VICTOR TEIXEIRA – LMDI

Since I started my own travel business, I have come across some really entrepreneurial people, some of them brave enough to organise events, showcase products and mentor complete strangers – Renaé Dawes is one such person.
So it wasn’t a complete surprise when I heard that Renaé and her boyfriend Jack had resorted to flying their beloved pooch to Dubai by private jet months after they had relocated there.
Of course I had to hear their story and then share it with you all… And this has inspired me even more to take the Dog Travel world by storm… Watch this space!

Two years ago my boyfriend Jack bought me my French bulldog Arlo and we have been inseparable since! We recently relocated to Dubai and knew we couldn’t leave him behind!
We tried to book him to fly cargo with Emirates Airlines, but as a French bulldog he had to go through some testing to check he was safe to fly. Unfortunately, he was very borderline and failed the test. We were then recommended to fly him privately…
This is something we had never considered as it was very expensive, however we knew that we needed him back with us, so we went for it.
We went through a company called K9 Jets, they fly dogs all over the world. We flew from Farnborough Airport in the UK to Dubai South. We used Pawsome Pets to sort the relocation documents as this was a lengthy process. 24 hours before the flight we had to visit the airport to have final vet checks to get cleared to fly!
Then it was flight day, I was very nervous as to how it was going to go. However, the staff were very reassuring and of course I was getting to fly on a private jet for the first time so it was exciting! 😂
There were around 10 dogs on the flight, so it was very busy! We got access to a lounge beforehand and only had to arrive 60 minutes before take-off. We then boarded and were served fruit and champagne before taking off.
We had choices of breakfast and lunch on the flight and of course unlimited drinks. We decided not to feed the pooches to be safe for toilet trips!
We stopped off in Alanya (Turkey) to refuel the plane and thankfully were allowed to let the dogs roam around for 20 minutes before taking back off to land in Dubai.
Once we landed, Arlo had to have his microchip scanned and then we were good to go! He was finally reunited with his dad after 9 months apart and it was the cutest reunion!
We are now so happy to be back together again and he is settling in so well to his new home!
